Frostbitten Fugitives is the first story in Repicheep - Toa of Irony's series, Tales of the Nui-Matoran. It introduced Repicheep's concept of the Nui-Matoran.

It can be read on BZPower, here.

Toa Tsonclad has been sent from the village of Algiren to check the Rahi traps. He then stumbles upon a pair of half-frozen beings buried in the snow. He takes them back to Algiren where they are healed and rest. After three days of healing, the pair, a Toa of Sonics named Zerrek and an Onu-Matoran named Raeser, decide to spend another day in the village. After some unusual happenings during the village's dinner, Tsonclad hears the pair arguing, but he cannot quite make sense of what they are saying. The next day, the pair leave Algiren. Minutes later, a Brotherhood airship comes to a stop over the village. The Toa of Algiren attempt to hold them off, only to have Zerrek and Raeser reappear in the village. As the Toa of Algiren get the citizenry to safety, the pair of visitors begin to exhibit unusual powers, Raeser using telekinesis and Zerrek a plethora of abilties. It is then that Tsonclad realizes that Zerrek is a Makuta, and Raeser relates the story of how he gained his powers and how he and Zerrek fled when the order for Raeser's death came. Days later, after Zerrek has regained his energy, he and Raeser leave, heading for the city of Aleris.
